Wood Fired Works
The works featured on this page were primarily fired with native hardwood collected from the land where I live and work and fired in my brand new wood kiln. The first firing of this kiln lasted 30 hours and was completed earlier this month, in November 2025.
This train kiln was designed and built by Ted Neal along with the help of Norah Amstutz, Sadie Misiuk, Nathan Pauls, and my family, and me. We used primarily new bricks, but the chimney was constructed entirely out of brick salvaged from my previous kiln, constructed on the same location in 2010 and dismantled to make room for this kiln
All the builders participated in the first firing, which we celebrated with a kiln warming party, cake, and a disco ball!
