When Swen came for the Michiana Pottery Tour earlier this fall he spent some time demonstrating his amazing brushwork technique. All of these paintings are free hand and one of a kind.
I stamped this platter with an antique bird stamp originally used for batiking in Bali, Indonesia. I picked it up as a souvenir during my travels there earlier this year.
After he completed his paintings on this platter, I loaded it into my soda kiln. This is an earthenware platter, with porcelain slip, fired to cone 3 in the soda kiln.
